5min honey cake substitute
Ingredients:
- dark rye bread
- dark honey (heather honey, buckwheat honey or any other honey with dark colour and deep flavour)
- butter
Methods:
- Toast a slice of dark rye bread. Let it cool for a bit.
- Cover the toast in a thin layer of honey. Top with the thinnest slice of butter (keeping the butter away from the toast prevents it from melting).
Notes: This doesn’t have much in common with the labour intensive but totally worth it honey cake, but it takes 5min to prepare and you get to enjoy layers of flavourful sponge, intense sweetness and creamy butterness. It takes surprisingly close to the honey cake.
